BECOMING YOUR OWN SUPPORT: Recognizing Your Self-Reliance Skills (children + adults)

Join author-illustrator and art therapist, Juliana Perdomo, and literary agent, Erica Rand Silverman, in a gathering to honor and participate in Mental Health Awareness Month. Juliana will do a live reading of SOMETIMES ALL I NEED IS ME in English and Spanish. She will also lead participants in a breathing and visualization exercise, and finish with an activity that explores how we can go in and out for support, showing that there is a beautiful balance between the two. The event will be aimed at all ages. Please bring paper and markers or colored pencils.
Juliana Perdomo is a Colombian author and illustrator, with a degree in psychology, art therapy and holistic education. Juliana has illustrated many books for children including WHAT IS BABY GOING TO DO? by Laura Knowles (Quarto) which Parents Magazine listed as one of the best baby books of 2020 and EL CUCUY IS SCARED, TOO by award-winning author, Donna Barba Higuera (Abrams).
Her author-illustrator debut, SOMETIMES ALL I NEED IS ME, published with Candlewick Press, just published in April 2022.
Kirkus described it as “A heartfelt, reassuring picture book that will help children develop inner resources and psychological strength”
Booklist gave it a starred review saying, “ Through the girl’s example, readers will learn self-reliance skills for soothing themselves when moments become difficult and an appreciation for both having company and being alone”.
